In addition, European Sustainable Energy Week 2026 will take place from 9 to 11 June 2026 in a hybrid format (in person in Brussels and online).

The awards aim to give visibility to, promote and reward people and initiatives that are delivering real solutions for the clean energy transition, innovative projects in energy efficiency, renewable energy and social change that accelerate the shift towards a more sustainable energy system, models that generate significant social or local impact, and examples that can be replicated by other regions or countries.

There are three categories, each with a specific focus:

  • SMEs Driving Energy Efficiency: Awards small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have developed innovative business models or solutions improving energy efficiency, particularly in buildings or industry.

  • Local Energy Action: Recognises sustainable actions already implemented at local or community level that make a tangible contribution to the energy transition. These may include initiatives led by municipalities, citizen groups or associations.

  • Women in Energy: Awards women leaders who have made an outstanding impact in the energy sector and who contribute to advancing gender equality and women’s participation in this field.
