$1 million to scale plant-based, compostable packaging

PeelON, a circular packaging startup, is developing plant-based, home-compostable solutions designed to extend the shelf life of fresh produce and reduce food waste across the supply chain.

The company has recently closed a $1 million seed funding round, led by GrowX Ventures, which will enable PeelON to accelerate its research and development activities, scale up production, and bring its innovative compostable packaging solutions to international markets.

Its flagship solution, Banapeel liners, is already being used to help farmers and exporters maintain the green life of bananas during longer transit periods. This directly supports the reduction of food losses, minimises waste, and enhances export competitiveness, particularly in markets such as India, where preserving fruit quality during export remains a significant challenge.

In addition, PeelON was recently featured by Inc42 for addressing India’s banana export challenge through sustainable packaging solutions.

At goCircular Radar, we celebrate PeelON’s work as a strong example of how circular innovation can reshape the future of food and packaging, delivering both environmental and economic impact across the value chain.
