Cluster 5 of Horizon Europe is one of the European Union’s strategic priorities to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable continent. This call funds projects aimed at transforming energy systems, promoting clean mobility, and developing innovative solutions to address climate change.
The call, which closes on 17 February 2026, aims to support projects that contribute to achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
It has an approximate budget of €318 million and covers two main strands:

Funded projects must fall within one or more of the following areas:
Climate
- Climate change mitigation
- Climate adaptation
- Emissions reduction
Energy
- Renewable energy
- Smart energy systems
- Energy efficiency in industry and buildings
- Energy storage
Mobility
- Clean and zero-emission transport
- Electric mobility infrastructure
- Sustainable urban mobility
Digitalisation linked to energy and mobility
- Automation
- Smart grids
- Advanced monitoring
Eligible applicants include companies (start-ups, SMEs and large enterprises), universities and research centres, public institutions, non-governmental organisations, and international consortia (usually involving a minimum of three European countries).
The call supports research, demonstration and scaling projects, as well as activities related to coordination, analysis and dissemination.
Particular emphasis will be placed on real impact on decarbonisation, clear technological innovation, scalability, technical and economic feasibility, contribution to the European Green Deal, and the integration of social and digital perspectives.
