The L’Oréal Group has announced the first cohort of 13 startups and SMEs joining its new Sustainable Innovation Accelerator programme, “L’AcceleratOR”, launched with an investment of €100 million over five years to scale sustainable solutions in the areas of climate, circularity, nature and next-generation packaging.
Developed in collaboration with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), the programme aims to support projects capable of addressing critical industry challenges—from more sustainable packaging to natural ingredients and data intelligence tools to measure emissions—with the potential to be deployed at a global scale.
The 13 “agents of change” selected by L’Oréal stand out for their innovative proposals across several strategic areas. Among them, we are proud to see startups from the goCircular Radar community:
-
Blue Ocean Closures (Sweden) – Fibre-based caps and closures as an alternative to plastic in packaging.

-
Kelpi (United Kingdom) – Recyclable, low-carbon-footprint packaging made from seaweed.

-
Raiku (Estonia) – High-performance protective packaging made from natural wood.

The work carried out by these companies is closely aligned with the values and sustainable innovation goals promoted by goCircular Radar. Being part of goCircular Radar means visibility within the European circular economy ecosystem, facilitating connections with companies, investors and stakeholders interested in solutions that reduce the environmental impact of packaging.
The selection of these startups—and, for us in particular, those with a presence in goCircular Radar—reinforces how circular and sustainable packaging solutions are gaining global traction, from bio-based materials to processes that enhance packaging circularity, and how large-scale initiatives such as L’AcceleratOR can accelerate their adoption in key industrial sectors such as beauty and mass consumer goods.
