Cass Materials’ proprietary foaming technology produces fossil-FREE biofoams from the waste side streams of the agriculture (wheat straw) and forest (fibre rejects) industries. These biofoams have functionalities such as being lightweight, hydrophobic, good structural strength and home compostable that can be used in the packaging, insulation, oil absorbency and many other markets. With expanded polystyrene (EPS) now being banned or phased out around the world, Cass’ biofoams are a perfect environmentally sustainable alternative. The foaming technology is at Technical Readiness Level 4 (TRL4) - functional prototypes at laboratory scale – and is protected with global patents. The company is committed to developing the biofoam technology at scale to fit efficiently into existing processes with minimal retrofitting and being price competitive with existing products.
