Mvuvi Blue Connect runs the transaction and cold chain layer for Lake Victoria's fish trade. Fishers, traders, cold storage operators and buyers meet on our platform, settle through M-Pesa escrow, and every consignment moves under a QR batch code we print and attach at the landing site. We have 1,000+ registered users, 260+ active traders, 50+ partner cold storage sites, and we earn commission on completed trades. That fish travels in insulated boxes. Across East Africa those boxes are single-use expanded polystyrene: used once, then dumped, burned or broken up near the shoreline. We are now extending the same QR and escrow rails into a returnable box system. Each box gets an identity, custody passes hand to hand with the consignment, and the deposit releases automatically when the box comes back to any node in the network. Packaging stops being a consumable and becomes a tracked asset with a custody ledger.
