PulpaTronics develops fully recyclable, metal-free RFID tags for product identification and tracking. Unlike conventional tags made with metal antennas and plastic substrates, our laser technology transforms the carbon in paper into conductive circuitry. By doing so, we eliminate the need for metal mining, simplify manufacturing and streamline recycling. The technology is estimated to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 60%. By using paper as a single material, the tags are compatible with existing recycling systems, for a more circular economy. They can be recycled 6-7 times before being composted for minimal overall CO2 emissions. By reducing transportation, material and energy expenses, PulpaTronics cuts RFID tag costs by 30%. This offers an appealing alternative to barcodes. PulpaTronics also enables consumers to confidently throw away RFID tags by indicating their recyclability with a symbol, while allowing retailers to communicate their devotion to reducing their environmental impact.
