Polytag

Polytag brings transparency and data to single-use plastic lifecycles. Our technology empowers brands, recyclers and policymakers to track and trace plastics from production to disposal, fostering accountability and sustainability. Polytag uses GS1-compliant QR codes, soon to be scanned at checkouts, to serve multiple purposes such as engaging with consumers, rewarding recycling, and optimising retailer operations to reduce food waste. In 2023, Polytag partnered with Ocado Retail, distributing 20,000 rewards in a national Rewards for Recycling scheme, leveraging unique QR codes. Additionally, we utilise invisible UV watermarks, applied with RecyClass-approved ink, to identify plastic packaging at recycling centres with our low-cost, open source detection units. This technology provides brands with vital data on their packaging lifecycles, supporting legislation such as EPR, plus it enables enhanced optical sorting to improve recycling rates, and reduce contamination, promoting a circular economy where materials are recycled.
