AC Biode

We are AC Biode, a global cleantech startup bridging European commercialisation (headquartered in Luxembourg) with Japanese deep-tech engineering. Our main activity is developing Plastalyst, a patented chemical recycling technology specifically designed to process complex, deteriorated, and multi-layered packaging plastics - such as flexible films, mixed polyesters, and laminated materials - which are currently impossible to recycle mechanically and are destined for incineration. Unlike conventional chemical recycling (pyrolysis) that operates at extreme temperatures (>400°C), Plastalyst operates below 200°C and uses standard industrial water as a solvent alongside cheap, reusable, non-precious metal catalysts. Our unique "chemical scissors" cleave not just C-H bonds, but also the stronger C-C and C-O bonds, allowing us to depolymerise mixed PE, PP, PET, and nylon simultaneously.
