Bana Med is an early-stage sustainable medical startup transforming agricultural waste into high-value medical products. We utilize discarded banana tree fibers—an underused agricultural waste—to produce biodegradable and eco-friendly surgical sutures.
Our solution addresses two major challenges: plastic medical waste and the environmental burden of agricultural residues. By replacing conventional petroleum-based sutures with natural, compostable alternatives, Bana Med contributes to circular economy principles, waste reduction, and sustainable healthcare systems, especially in low- and middle-income countries.
The startup has developed functional prototypes and is currently validating the solution with surgeons and medical professionals.
