BioGold Energy is a Kenya-based clean energy and circular economy social enterprise founded in 2023. Our core activity is converting organic agricultural and urban waste such as avocado seeds and market biomass - into affordable, low-carbon bio-briquettes that replace traditional biomass like charcoal and firewood for households, micro-enterprises, and institutions.
We address the intersecting challenges of waste mismanagement, deforestation, climate emissions, energy poverty, and youth and women unemployment. We operate a hybrid model combining centralized briquette production with a decentralized, women and youth-led micro-franchise distribution network, ensuring last-mile access while creating dignified green jobs.
Our products are cleaner-burning, cost-competitive, and locally-engineered to suit African waste streams and cooking realities. Pilots in Nairobi and Kwale counties have validated strong demand from households, food vendors, schools, and industries.
