BioZein is building the material infrastructure for a post-microplastic economy. We transform corn processing by-products into zein, a renewable, plant-based protein that can replace selected synthetic ingredients in packaging coatings. Zein forms films and provides grease and oxygen barrier properties, making it promising for paper and fibre-based food packaging. Our patented production technology tackles a key barrier to adoption: reliable supply at industrial scale. We already manufacture and sell zein commercially and work with partners to move packaging applications from formulation and trials into production. Our ambition is to make better materials practical and affordable for mainstream packaging.
