Blue Ocean Closures is reducing plastic use and carbon footprint by replacing fossil-based products with highly densified cellulose fibers. The first products to market are advanced screw caps that are biobased, biodegradable, and recyclable like paper. We are developing both the material and the forming methods, starting as a producer of caps, packaging, and food service products. The process is highly scalable, utilizing abundant fiber and existing fast high-pressure metal forming machines. With this, we are creating proprietary material preparation techniques and forming tools, protected by eight patent families filed to date.
