Conventional pigments are petroleum-based and coal-tar. Carbon black, widely used in printing, produces 40Mt CO2 annually.
At Caffe Inc, we have pioneered a method, now proven at a pilot scale, to extract valuable compounds from coffee waste.

We make black pigments “greener” with Caffeink® an unique resource, we connect the coffee and printing industries, by extracting upcycled coffee pigments from coffee waste. These pigments are incorporated in water-based ink. The inks are mainly in flexographic and gravure printing techniques for packaging applications. These are ecofriendly versatile inks that can be used to print in many types of substrates such as plastics, paper and textiles. In 2024, 100 coffee suits dyed with our pigments will be sold online in collaboration with Bonne Suits.
