Glenntex develops a functionalized graphene-based additive for producing simpler, lighter, yet more durable multilayer packaging from upcycled plastic waste. The uniqueness lies in a patented green chemistry process that uses graphene to enhance the mechanical and chemical properties of plastic waste polymers, creating new nanocomposites. Our additive enables packaging producers to achieve equivalent performance to virgin plastic with just 3 layers of 1 type of simple plastic (polyolefin) instead of today’s 5 layers of 5 plastics. Compared to using only virgin plastics, using plastic waste together with our additive reduces material needs by 30%, reduces production costs by 20%, increases chemical/gas barrier performance by 84%, enables a recyclability up to 4 times without quality trade-offs, and saves 1500 tCO2eq/ton.
