Green Cycle Ghana (GCG) is a circular economy initiative implemented by Ummy Relief Foundation (URF) to address plastic and organic waste management challenges in Tamale, Northern Ghana. The project recovers waste from households, markets, institutions, and communities, sorting and supplying quality plastic waste to recycling companies while processing organic waste into livestock, poultry, and fish feed.
Through this model, GCG creates income opportunities for youth, women, and informal waste collectors; supports recycling value chains with quality materials; and provides smallholder farmers with sustainable feed alternatives. The project also promotes environmental awareness and responsible waste management practices in target communities.
By turning waste into value, Green Cycle Ghana contributes to cleaner communities, green job creation, climate resilience, resource efficiency, and the growth of a sustainable circular economy in Ghana.
