MarinaTex is a deep-tech biomaterials company developing natural polymer coatings and films as sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics. We functionalize natural polymers (polymers made in nature) for multiple applications, grounded in biomimicry. Packaging: Biodegradable coatings for paperboard (TRL 5/6) and flexible films (TRL 4/5) with barrier properties and full recyclability. Industrially validated with Letters of Intent from Coveris, Colpac, ProAmPac and Mitsui Chemicals. Agriculture: Natural, microplastic-free seed coatings (TRL 5/6) enhancing plant-beneficial microbes. Compliant with EU's 2028 microplastics ban. Advancing through Innovate UK funding with field trials in 2025. Chemical Reagents: Commercialisation of biomaterial-derived chemical reagents. Founded 2020, MarinaTex has secured over £1 million in grants and £1 million in private investment. Our team of six combines materials science expertise with proven commercial scaling experience.
