The main activity of the company is the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the tokenMYs ecosystem (pronounced "token mais"). The project is currently in its pilot phase (TRL 9) and consists of a mobile application for users and a web environment for municipalities and key partners. The value proposition of tokenMYs is linked to organic waste management, aiming to connect ecology and circular economy with leisure, culture, and sports while boosting local commerce in municipalities. This solution seeks to incentivize organic waste recycling in towns and cities by motivating users with access to discounted activities, events, promotions, and other services. It has a dual mission: to generate compost from organic waste and provide the option of producing biogas as an alternative to existing energy sources. The acquisition of activities, events, and promotions—referred to as "Plans"—takes place in a section of the app. Currently, the available Plans include free tickets to Teatro Cuyás in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a 30% discount for home games of Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria. Users earn MYs ("mais") tokens every time they deposit a bag of organic waste into the brown or 5th container. These tokens can then be exchanged for theater tickets or to watch their favorite basketball team. The medium-term goal is to expand the variety of Plans, making this social innovation project more attractive and encouraging greater participation from both users and entities. The recycling process begins with filling a compostable bag with organic waste, sealing it, and attaching a compostable QR sticker to the bag. The user scans the QR code with the app and takes a photo of the bag. Then, they deposit the bag in the 5th container and scan the container’s QR code using the app to receive the corresponding tokens. By promoting this recycling action, the solution improves conditions in municipalities through better waste separation and new alternatives for energy self-sufficiency. These actions aim to contribute to the planet through a simple daily activity like recycling. As of 2024, all municipalities are required to implement a waste collection system that separates this type of waste. One of the main challenges is motivating citizens to use this new container. tokenMYs is the solution to overcome this barrier and facilitate the implementation of the 5th container. In the pilot project, people over 65 years old have been using the application, demonstrating that age is not a limitation.
