Mycelium Innovations is a Tunisian bio-manufacturing startup that develops sustainable materials from agricultural waste and mycelium the root structure of mushrooms. Our core activity is producing biodegradable, compostable myco-based packaging designed to replace plastic and polystyrene, starting with B2B clients in cosmetics, food, and consumer goods.
Using locally abundant palm tree sawdust, we grow mycelium into strong, lightweight, and customizable forms through a low-energy, circular process that captures carbon and avoids toxic chemicals. Our packaging is fully compostable and can even be embedded with seeds, allowing it to grow plants after use turning waste into new life.
By combining biotechnology, local waste valorization, and in-house machine design, Mycelium Innovations delivers affordable, high-performance eco-materials adapted to emerging markets, while addressing plastic pollution and open burning of organic waste in Tunisia and beyond.
