Plan B Recycle

Plan B Recycle is a South Sudanese social enterprise founded in 2020 from a simple belief: the problems surrounding us can also become opportunities for our communities. Our work began with practical solutions to waste and has grown into exploring how locally available materials can be transformed into useful products and livelihoods. Our current innovation, the Water Hyacinth Paper Package, responds to two challenges we see in South Sudan: the growing use of plastic packaging and the increasing spread of water hyacinth in water bodies. We are developing a process to turn harvested water hyacinth into biodegradable paper-based packaging that can replace some conventional plastic packaging. For us, this is not only about creating a new product. It is about showing that an environmental problem can become a source of income, skills and local innovation.
