SABER Chemical is an Iowa State University spinout developing high-performance, compostable, and biobased polymer technologies. Our mission is to make sustainable plastics perform like conventional materials without sacrificing their end-of-life advantages. Our lead platform, SABERFlex, uses reactive polymer processing to transform brittle compostable plastics into tough, durable materials suitable for applications including 3D printing, sporting goods, packaging and molded products. We are also developing compostable core-shell impact modifiers and scalable routes to biobased acrylic monomers for coatings, adhesives and polymer additives. SABER combines polymer chemistry, process engineering and application development, using contract manufacturing and strategic industry partnerships to move technologies rapidly from laboratory validation to commercial products.
