The Spanish sustainable packaging start-up Pack2Earth has announced a new €1.6 million funding round, led by the Swanlaab Venture Factory fund, with participation from JRV Holding, Creand Credit Andorrà, Tech Transfer Agrifood and several private investors.
Pack2Earth develops bio-based materials made from plants and minerals that can be composted at room temperature, without the need for specialised industrial facilities. These materials are designed for both flexible packaging (film, pouches, doypacks) and moulded packaging (lids, containers, rigid moulds), and are suitable for dry, semi-liquid and even liquid products.
Their technology provides high barriers against moisture, oxygen and grease — a key requirement for preserving food and other long-shelf-life products — while maintaining a significantly lower carbon footprint than conventional fossil-based plastics.
Thanks to the newly raised capital, Pack2Earth plans to establish an in-house laboratory that will use artificial intelligence to optimise the formulation of its materials. The funding round will also allow the company to strengthen its technical team, protect its intellectual property rights and intensify its commercial activity in strategic markets.
Pack2Earth’s proposition is based on materials that, at the end of their life cycle, break down without leaving microplastics or toxic residues, thereby reducing both environmental pollution and the health risks associated with traditional plastics.
The company already works with clients in countries such as Spain and Germany, and has pilot trials and agreements underway in the United Kingdom, the United States and Switzerland.
This funding round represents an important boost as the company aims to consolidate its position within the circular packaging sector.
