The European Investment Bank (EIB) is spearheading a revolutionary project in the transformation of urban centers towards the circular economy, with the Circular City Center (C3) as the centrepiece. In partnership with sustainability experts, they are implementing innovative strategies in selected cities to optimize resource use and reduce waste.
The C3 acts as an epicenter of circular innovation, where the exchange of knowledge and the development of practical solutions is promoted. In addition, the Circular City Advisory (CCA) program offers specialized advice to participating cities to design and implement circular strategies at the urban level.
From urban planning to waste management and sustainable mobility, C3 and CCA work together to cover all facets of the transition to a more circular economy.
In addition, the Circular Project Advisory (CPA) program provides specific support to circular projects, facilitating their financing and execution.
One of the main goals is the creation of policies and regulations that encourage the adoption of circular practices in the urban environment. This includes incentives for reuse, recycling and sustainable production.
The ultimate goal is to build more resilient and efficient urban centers, where resources are used more intelligently and sustainably. This approach not only benefits the environment, but also drives innovation and economic competitiveness of participating cities.
