Collaborating in the R&D project PortWaste

Two goCircular Radar startups, Blue Room and Premium Research, are collaborating on the PortWaste project, a joint initiative designed to transform waste management in ports by promoting digitalisation, sustainability, and traceability throughout the entire process—from shipboard collection to final treatment.

The project pursues the following main objectives:

  • Improve operational efficiency and sustainability in port waste management.
  • Ensure traceability through advanced technologies such as blockchain and IoT.
  • Facilitate compliance with European regulations on the reception of ship-generated waste.
  • Promote the circular economy within the port environment.

The project is led by Blue Room Innovation, which is developing digital solutions to ensure full traceability and digitalisation of the waste management process.

Premium Research is responsible for developing Machine Learning algorithms aimed at analysing key performance indicators (KPIs) and predicting the efficiency of port waste management operators.

Other partners involved in the project are Aquaterra and the cluster Smartech.

In an increasingly dynamic environment, partnerships between startups not only strengthen individual capabilities but also help build a more robust, innovative, and competitive ecosystem. Together, startups multiply their potential, share knowledge, and accelerate the impact of their solutions in the global market.
