Hamburg-based startup one.five has raised €14 million in Series A funding to expand its AI-powered platform for packaging product development. The round was led by Dr. Hans Riegel Holding, one of the principal shareholders of HARIBO, with participation from new and existing investors.
one.five uses artificial intelligence to help packaging companies develop products that better meet technical, regulatory, cost and market requirements. Its Product Market Fit Compass enables paper producers, coating manufacturers and packaging converters to assess their portfolios against real brand requirements and identify solutions with greater commercial potential.
The new funding will be used to further develop the company’s AI platform and proprietary data foundation, generate additional data through experiments and commercial material deployments, and expand the technology to new customer groups.
The company has also used its platform to develop alternative packaging solutions including Bluemorph, a recyclable high-barrier packaging solution; Glassleaf, transparent recyclable packaging made from bio-based materials; and Hazelsun, a heat-sealable paper made from agricultural waste.
At Radar, we continue to follow startups like one.five that are applying artificial intelligence to accelerate packaging innovation and bring new solutions to market more efficiently.
