The startup Kelpi is an innovative company that harnesses the properties of seaweed to create compostable biomaterial packaging that is safe for the marine environment and has a low carbon footprint. Its technology addresses marine plastic pollution by replacing fossil fuel-based plastics with materials designed to biodegrade completely without leaving behind toxins or microplastics.
Its SeaCoat solution, a seaweed-based coating for packaging, has recently been approved, marking a significant step forward in the development of more environmentally friendly packaging. The approval of SeaCoat strengthens Kelpi’s position in ecodesign and the development of new materials for sustainable packaging, while supporting collaborations with multinational brands to advance the circular economy.
In this context, Kelpi has also recently started a collaboration with Amcor to accelerate the development of sustainable packaging solutions.
