Horizon Europe Call for startups: EIC Accelerator

Horizon Europe’s funding program, the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator, offers support to startups and SMEs that meet the following requirements:

  • have an innovative and revolutionary product, service or business model, which could create new markets or disrupt existing ones in Europe and even worldwide
  • have the ambition and commitment to scale
  • be looking for high funding, but what risks are involved are too high for private investors to invest alone

The objective of this call is to develop and scale innovative ideas, with the potential to create new markets or transform existing ones.

The program offers up to €2.5 million in grants and up to €15 million in capital investment, advice and mentoring, as well as networking.

The next deadlines for submitting proposals are June 21 and October 4, 2023.

In addition, there are predefined thematic areas, for those innovations with great impact on the objectives of the EU, for which the EIC Accelerator Challenges calls are opened.

Among these themes, we can highlight some such as the so-called “energy storage“, with a budget of €100 million, whose objective is to transform the EU into an efficient economy in the use of resources and guarantee greater energy independence for Europe compared to unreliable suppliers and volatile fossil fuels, while preserving Europe’s natural environment and tackling climate change. It also highlights the theme of “new technologies for resilient agriculture“, with a budget of €65 million, whose objective is to provide solutions for a sustainable agricultural and food production system resistant to environmental and social disturbances, including circular agriculture.
