We present the first European-wide study on the financing of circular economy startups, developed in collaboration by NetZeroInsights and TheCircularLab-Ecoembes.
This alliance has made possible to carry out this study that analyses the financing received by startups focused on the circular economy in Europe. This first report has been based on data from the first quarter of 2023 and, subsequently, quarterly reports will be generated on the most relevant information in relation to this financing, which will be available on the goCircular Radar website.
This first report (Q1) highlights that financing for startups in the sector has been concentrated mainly in the Electronics and ICT value chains, with €187M of investment, followed by the plastics sector, with €180M and, in third place , that of packaging, with €144M.
On the other hand, this analysis also highlights that there has been a boost in the financing of startups focused on the circularity of packaging in this first quarter of 2023.
In the last two years, circular solutions in Batteries and Vehicles, as well as Electronics and ICT, have been the ones that have received the most funding, with 70% of total funding. However, a €130M round from APK makes packaging stand out in the first quarter of 2023 with 14% of total funding.
