We have the winners of the Circular Packaging Challenge 2024! 🎉

On November 21st, Madrid hosted the final event of the Circular Packaging Challenge 2024, where the 16 finalists presented their innovative proposals to a jury composed of leading companies in the packaging sector.

The jury’s feedback could not have been more positive, highlighting the quality, creativity, and commitment of all participants to sustainability and the circular economy.

At TheCircularLab, we want to congratulate the winners for their groundbreaking solutions, which represent a significant step towards a more sustainable future:

  • In Challenge 1: New Packaging Materials, Notpla (United Kingdom) stood out with its solution to encapsulate liquids in a thin, flexible, and 100% biodegradable layer, individually packaged and completely edible.
  • In Challenge 2: New Models for Sustainable Packaging Management, Grin AS (Norway) was recognised for its smart collection system that simplifies the return of reusable packaging by consumers.

Additionally, we extend our recognition for their impactful and original proposals to:

  • Macrocycle Technologies (USA), honorable mention in Challenge 1, for its technology that transforms plastic and polyester waste into new virgin-quality materials.
  • Polytag Limited (United Kingdom), honorable mention in Challenge 2, for its packaging labeling technology using QR codes and invisible UV marks to improve traceability throughout the lifecycle.

In total, over 70 companies were represented among the audience, attending to learn more about the finalist startups.

The event began with elevator pitches from the finalists of the first challenge: ADBioplasticsBiomyc, BockatechGreenback  Recycling Technologies Ltd., MacroCycle Technologies, MagnomerMi terro and Notpla.
